My nephew, Cedar, who is four years old and lives on a farm in Kansas, wrote a book for me yesterday. Since he didn’t know how to mail it to me as I make my way through Central America, his mother (my sister) transposed it into an email. I guess I’ll have to wait a few months to see the illustrations, but I’ll share the text of Cedar’s masterpiece here. My sister promises Cedar made it up entirely on his own.

Here it is:

A boy looked into a microscope, and his daddy asked what he saw. He said he saw God.

A boy was walking in Bethlehem. God was alive, and the boy bumped into him, and God jumped on him.

A boy was in a dot. God stepped on the dot, and the boy popped out of the dot. And God said, “No, stay in the dot.”

Once upon a time, there was a man that was poor. He saw God walking. The man asked for money, and God said, “You will have to find your own money.”
