Between 2013 and 2019 I conducted occasional interviews with my mother, Alice Potts, about various aspects of her life. I did this out of the conviction that once the people you love are gone, you won’t have the chance to ask them the kind of simple questions about their lives that you can (but often forget to) ask them while they’re alive.

In the wake of mom’s recent death, as I was collecting digital ephemera from her life, I went through my old Alice Potts oral-history sound files, had my nephew Cedar clean up the audio, and posted the interviews to both YouTube and Spotify.

These interviews were informal and unprofessional, and involved a lot of casual digression and repetition. They are not really meant for general public consumption (though interested strangers are welcome to listen in if they’d like); I am collecting them here mainly so that her surviving loved ones have easy access to them, should they be curious about specific aspects/chapters of her life.

In roughly chronological order here are the 11 most substantia; conversations we had (feel free to “right-click” to listen directly on YouTube or find the series on Spotify).
